PMCG Microclimate Generator. E-mail
PMCG – Active Microclimate Generator for Museum Showcases.

The PMCG humidity generator is a novel approach for controlling humidity in museum quality display cases. The PMCG units are based on solid state technology - unlike other units, it needs no filling or emptying of reservoirs.

Once the machine is setup, humidity inside the display case will be maintained for years without the necessity of checking water level, adding water or any other regular maintenance. PMCG devices are able to maintain relative humidity from below 17% up to 70% at ambient temperatures of from below 0°C up to 40ºC.

PMCG units are of modular design; the main unit can be connected to many slave units to achieve necessary capacity for a particular application. Thanks to this design the client is pays only for needed capacity. The PMCG microclimate generators are very quiet (<16 db), use very little power, and needs no special ventilation.

Humidity generators are build in 3 different modes:

  • DD – provides dehumidifying only. DD units are ideal for low level RH applications (eg. 17%) when ambient RH will always be higher than the target RH inside the case.
  • HH – humidifying only. HH units are for applications where the target RH is always higher then ambient RH
  • DH – provides both humidifying and dehumidifying. The DH units may be used for all applications.
  • Achievable RH level: <20% - 60%
  • Permissible Ambient Conditions for Operation: <0°C - 65°C
  • Sensor Accuracy: ±3%
  • Sensor Repeatability: 0.5%
  • Power connection: Universal 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz, 1.5A
  • Power Consumption: from 10 W (PMCG2) to 30 W (PMCG3) maximum
  • Noise Emission: < 19 dB
  • Weight: 1.6 kg

The PMCG microclimate unit can be installed in the close vicinity of a controlled display case (eg. in a cabinet under the case) and is connected to the case with 2 hoses 3/4 inch / 20 mm ID. There is no special recommendation for the enclosure except it should be adequately ventilated.
Provide a standard power outlet 110 VAC or 220 VAC / 50 or 60 Hz The microclimate unit should be mounted vertically. Horizontal installation is possible but is not recommended as it will substantially reduce the unit's life span. The expected life for vertical installed humidity generators is over 10 years.

As all of Preservatech's equipment, PMCG can be connected to the monitoring network. Please see "Monitoring" page for more information.

Two year replacement warranty. The warranty is void if the microclimate generator is opened or was flooded with water.
